Here are a couple of pieces for the show we've been working on. We still need a few finishing touches, but these ones are pretty much done and ready to go. Enjoy! Megan's is the portrait and mine is the landscape.
Sou da Bahia is the senior capstone project of four Brigham Young University students: Christian Jensen, Nick Stentzel, Houston Trueblood, and Megan Trueblood. The project consists of a documentary film and a multi-media art exhibit, based on the vibrant art and culture of Bahia, Brazil.
Sou da Bahia is a powerful phrase. It means, literally, "I'm from Bahia," and carries with it a spirit of immense strength and pride. The people of Bahia meet their trials and hardships with bright optimism, drawing strength from their diverse heritage—a heritage that radiates artistic affections.
In the tradition of that spirit, Sou da Bahia seeks after the art of the everyday—from the simple act of flying kites to the profound aspirations of an artist at work—and in that art, find the beauty and strength that make life a worthwhile journey.
